NVDA YouTube Downloader

A powerful and accessible NVDA addon to download videos and audio from YouTube directly

Features

• Format Selection: Download as MP3 (Audio) or MP4 (Video).
• Quality Control: Choose from various quality options (e.g., 320kbps for audio, 1080p for video).
• Trimming: Download only a specific part of a video by specifying start and end times (Format: MM:SS or Seconds).
• SponsorBlock Integration: Automatically skip non-music sections like sponsors, intros, and outros (Enable in Settings).
• Metadata Embedding: Automatically adds Artist, Title, and Chapter information to downloaded files (Enable in Settings).
• Advanced Playlist Support: Automatically detects playlists, allows you to select specific videos to download, and saves them in a dedicated folder.
• Smart Detection: Intelligently handles links that contain both video and playlist IDs, giving you the choice.
• Background Downloads: Downloads continue in the background, allowing you to use NVDA without interruption.
• Queue System: Add multiple downloads to the queue and manage them easily.
• Retry Support: Easily retry downloads that were stopped or interrupted.

Usage

1. Open the Downloader:
   • Press NVDA+Shift+Y (default shortcut).
   • Or go to NVDA Menu -> Tools -> YouTube Downloader...
   • Note: The shortcut can be customized in NVDA Menu -> Preferences -> Input Gestures -> YouTube Downloader.
2. Enter URL:
   • The addon attempts to automatically grab the URL from your clipboard.
   • If not, paste the YouTube video or playlist link into the "Enter YouTube video link or playlist link" field.
   • Note: If you paste a link to a video inside a playlist, you will be asked if you want to download the whole playlist or just the video.
3. Select Options:
   • Choose your desired Format (MP3 or MP4).
   • Select the Quality.
   • (Optional) Enter Start and End times (HH:MM:SS) to trim the video (Single videos only).
4. Manage Downloads:
   • Click "Add to Download Queue".
   • For Playlists: A new window will open listing all videos. Check the ones you want (or "Select All") and click "Download Selected".
   • Monitor progress in the "Active Downloads" list.
   • Use the Stop button to cancel and remove a download.
   • Use the Retry Download button to retry downloads that failed or were interrupted.

Configuration

You can configure global settings in NVDA Menu -> Preferences -> Settings -> YouTube Downloader:

• Download Folder: Set your default download location.
• Enable SponsorBlock: Check this to automatically remove sponsors from downloaded videos.
• Embed Metadata: Check this to include Artist, Title, and Chapters in the file (Thumbnails are excluded).
