An NVDA add-on for creating, modifying, importing, and exporting notes in a very fast and easy way.
To use the add-on, follow these steps: 1. Open the add-on from the NVDA menu, Tools, and finally Note Diary. Initially, Note Diary does not have a keyboard shortcut assigned to open the window, but you can assign it in Preferences>Input Gestures under the Note Diary category. 2. Create a diary. To create a new diary, simply press the menu button at the top and select New diary, or alternatively, you can press the keyboard shortcut CTRL+N while in the Diary Tree, then enter the name of the diary you want. For example, if you want to create a personal diary where you keep your daily notes like any regular diary, you can write something like: "My personal diary" or something similar, depending on the content you want to keep in it. 3. Create chapters for your newly created diary. You can do this in two ways: The first is to press the More Options menu button > New Chapter or press the keyboard shortcut CTRL+P (Later on, all possible combinations are explained). Then, give your chapter a name, it can be a title that describes the content of that chapter. For example, in the previous example, as a title for your personal diary notes, you could put the date on which you wrote it. Or for example, if you have a diary named "Python Course," the first chapter could be something like: "Class 01 Hello World." After writing the chapter name, confirm with enter or tab then enter on the accept button. Important note: You must be focused on the diary where you want to create the chapters. 4. Write inside a chapter. After you have created the chapter, simply press enter on it or press the applications key or the shift f10 combination and select "Edit," and you're done! Just start writing in the multiline field that is automatically focused when a chapter is opened. 5. Save the chapter. After you have finished writing, to save, simply press the alt+g combination or navigate with tab to the "Save" button and press it. If you have sounds enabled, it will emit a sound indicating that the chapter has been saved. Similarly, if there is any editing in the chapter and you press the escape key or the close button, you will be asked if you want to save the chapter before closing, or if you want to close without saving or continue editing. 6. Done! Now you have a space to write your notes in an orderly, easy, and efficient way.
First, you will find the tree view list that allows you to navigate through your diaries and chapters very easily. At level 0, the diaries will always be there, with the up and down arrows, you move through the diaries or chapters, with the enter key or the left or right keys, you expand or collapse the diary to see its chapters. You can also navigate with the letter keys from a to z.
When you press this menu button or locate it and press the down arrow, the following options will appear: * New Diary: Create a new diary in the diary list. * New Chapter: Create a new chapter in the selected diary. * Import Diaries: Restore diaries from a .ndn file that contains all the diaries along with their corresponding chapters to your diary tree. * Export Diaries: Save all your diaries and chapters in an ndn file to always have it available as a backup or to share it with someone else and exchange notes. * And finally, in the Help sub-menu, you will find the following items: About. Displays a dialog with basic information about this add-on. Documentation: Displays this file in the default browser.
After the diary list, you will find a read-only editing box that will contain the basic information of the selected diary or chapter. For example, in the diaries, it will tell you the name of the diary, the creation date, the modification date, and the number of chapters it contains. In the chapters, it will tell you the name of the selected chapter, the diary the chapter belongs to, the creation date, the modification date, and the number of pages in the chapter.
Simply closes the add-on window or alternatively, you can close it with the escape key.
This is the list of shortcuts available for the add-on: * Ctrl+N: Creates a new diary. * Ctrl+P: Creates a new chapter in the selected diary. * Delete: Deletes a diary with all its chapters or an independent chapter of any diary. * Enter: Opens and closes a diary, and in the chapters, opens the edit window for that chapter. * F5: Refreshes the window. * F2: Renames the selected diary or chapter. * F1 opens this document. * Applications key or shift + F10 opens a context menu for the selected diary or chapter. Other useful shortcuts in the diary window: * Alt+M: Opens the menu. * Alt+D: Focuses on the diary list. * Alt+i: Focuses on the editing information box. * Alt+C: Closes the add-on window. Useful shortcuts inside the edit window of a chapter: * Alt+N: Focuses on the editing field. * Alt+P: Copies all the content of the chapter to the clipboard. * Alt+G: Saves the chapter. * Alt+C: Closes the chapter dialog.
In the NVDA options, you can find the Note Diary item for settings, and at the moment, the only available option is to enable or disable sounds within the add-on. When this option is enabled, sounds will be played on some events in the add-on, such as when you switch diaries or chapters.
